What are some myths about SEO?

Check out this recent video where Matt Cutts from Google discusses some of the most common myths about SEO...

MYTH #1

"If you buy ads you'll rank higher/better on Google" OR "If you DON'T buy ads you'll rank better/higher"

MYTH #2

"Google makes it's changes to get people to buy more ads"

Some other Myths he made note of:

"Submitting articles to article directories is the best way to rank #1"

"Guest blogging is the best way to rank #1"

"Link wheels are the best way to rank #1"

Matt maintains that Google's main concern is to provide the highest quality search results possible in order to keep users coming back to Google for their information needs.  He suggests "thinking for yourself" to avoid "group think", and to beware of automation tools and software that promise white hat rankings.

Klout Joins Lithium

Did anyone else see this?

Klout
I am proud to share the news that Klout is joining forces with Lithium Technologies.
We started Klout in 2008 with the crazy idea of measuring the world’s influence. We wanted to help people understand and be recognized for the impact of their voice. It has been amazing to watch this happen. The Klout Score has grown into the standard of influence and our platform has evolved significantly to help users share their passions online.
As Klout takes the next step toward helping our users, I believe that Lithium is the ideal partner. Lithium powers many of the most vibrant communities online for leading brands like Spotify, Skype and Sephora. Together, we can do more to help you share your passions, measure your impact and grow your reputation.
I want you to know that our mission has not changed — Lithium shares our passion for empowering every person to understand and maximize their impact online. Klout will continue helping content creators be great online. You will still be able to get insights about your social media performance, find new content to share, and be rewarded with Perks on both Klout.com and our mobile app.
On behalf of the Klout team, I would like to thank everyone who has ever checked their Klout Score. We are humbled by your passion, curiosity, excitement and support. We look forward to continuing to serve you as we begin this new journey.
Sincerely,
Joe Fernandez

Xeeme Banned by Google [Wrongly]

When trying to visit Twitter today I received an unfamiliar WARNING message from Google:

Finding this worrisome, I headed straight over to Xeeme.com where I received this warning:

Alarmed at this point, I then decided to check out the Xeeme Power Networker Group on FB to see if there is any chatter about this...and it doesn't look good...

Hopefully +Google can take a look at this and get the issue resolved quickly!  Xeeme is a great resource an this error by Google impacts all of us that use it.
